Nicaruagua Update #12

Monday, July 27, 2026  

Dave was up at 6:30am to finish packing.  Rudolpho was outside to open the gate for him to leave at 7:30am.  They said their goodbyes and it was a sweet time.  He was at Regan and Blanca's house at 8am, where Blanca had coffee ready for him.  They had planned to leave as soon as Dave arrived, but most of the students in the VEA morning class had already arrived.  Regan asked Dave to say some words of encouragement.   They spent the next 45 minutes having a give and take with the class.  He shared that it was another very sweet time.  The team left about 9am headed for the airport.  On the way to the airport Regan told Dave that Pastor Johnny called early this morning to say that his daughter, Angie, wanted to start VEA and that she would be in class this afternoon.  That makes eight new students this week.  Three at the 8am class and five at the 1:30pm class.  They made it to the airport at 9:30am.  Once Dave got through the ticket/bag line, the team met to do their end-of-the-trip business meeting.  He made it through immigration and security easily.  The travel day was relatively uneventful, with seemingly normal flight delays on the Miami to Atlanta route due to inclement weather.  Fortunately, there was space remaining on the 12:20am shuttle from the airport to Bethlehem, GA where I usually pick him up.  Who knew there would be a several mile stretch of road paving in front of our newest elementary and middle schools at that time of the morning that would cause a 20-minute delay in me being able to reach him?  By the time I got to the dropoff location (which is a convenience store that is not open in the wee hours of the morning), the shuttle was long gone and he was standing in the middle of the dark parking lot, with his suitcases, waiting patiently for me to arrive.  We were home and in bed by 3am.  He said it was another awesome trip that went even better than planned.
