Update #7
/Good morning from Nicaragua! I'm giving you an update on our mission trips progress for July 25.
The goal for today was to continue to build up and encourage the Veracruz English Academy. VEA Is a school directed by our missionary partner, Mr. Regan Downs and his wife, Blanca. VEA teaches Nicaraguan children in the community to learn English and also to teach them about Jesus. For example, they start their day saying the Lord's prayer in Englis and are also learning about the 10 Commandments in English.
To encourage the students, our group arranged for two separate field trips for VEA students. In the morning, we loaded up 53 students and took them to Catarina, a large volcanic lake with a picturesque overview. We then visited Granada, the old colonial capital of Nicaragua, which has a beautiful central square and cathedral. In the afternoon, we took a different group of 21 of the younger students to the capital city of Managua and played in a park and then took them out for a pizza dinner. We all returned to Vera Cruz happy, tired, and full.
