At the Session meeting on September 3, senior pastor Robert F. McAndrew announced his plans to retire, effective August 31, 2019. We are honored to have had Bob as our senior pastor for so many years, thankful that he has given us a year to make this transition, and above all else, grateful to God that He, as our perfect shepherd, ministers to His flock through human shepherds like Bob and our next senior pastor.
So… what’s next? Below, we have provided a high level snapshot of what a pastoral search looks like. [The PCA process of calling a pastor is found in the PCA Book of Church Order, Chapter 20.]

When the Session commissions a search committee to start praying and looking for our next senior pastor, we need to be able to describe where we think God is leading this congregation in this cultural location at this time. The search committee needs to have a sense for what type of pastor would and would not be the best fit for our congregation, and the Session should help the search committee in that hard work.

The selection of a Pastor Search Committee is an important part of the overall search process. These men and women will take the input given by elders, church leaders, and the congregation and use it to help them find our new senior pastor. Practically, this may include meeting regularly, creating a job description, reviewing candidates, listening to sermons, or visiting churches. The role requires a high level of confidentiality. When the Committee comes to a consensus on who they think God is leading to Faith, the congregation will have a chance to meet and vote on that person.
So, how do we select a team?
The elders are accepting nominations between November 18 and January 13th. [Nominations will also be taken at the January meeting but we would encourage you to submit them ahead of time.] On January 13th, there will be a congregational meeting to vote on the nominations for each position on the team. If you would like to nominate someone, here are some things to think about:
Is this person a member? [only members of Faith may be a part of the search team]
Is this person a good fit? [are they wise and seeking to serve Jesus in this role and not themselves, what position on the team are you nominating them for, is the search team a broad representation of the congregation at Faith]
Does this person have time? [please ask the person you are nominating if they are willing to serve on the team before you nominate them]
