Mission Nicaragua 2009

Our team will travel to Managua, Nicaragua in December. We will travel by bus to Vera Cruz, Nicaragua, a suburb of Managua, where we will reside. We will stay at Casa Bernabe Orphanage in Vera Cruz.

Faith and On the Border® have partnered together to support mission in Nicaragua. Present this flyer during your visit on Monday November 9 and 10% of your food and beverage purchases will be donated to the mission trip to Nicaragua.

MISSION STATEMENT

We desire our team to be characterized by Christ-like behavior exhibited through unconditional love, unselfish service, and unified teamwork. We desire to love and minister to the people of Nicaragua, and to each other, through servants' hearts, esteeming others more highly than ourselves.

TEAM MINISTRIES

Our projects will be based in part on how much financial support the team is able to generate. One of our objectives is to assist a church in the small community of Vera Cruz by completing the construction of their sanctuary, to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the congregation. We will join with the church to conduct out reach in the community. We plan to distribute clothing, essential toiletries, school supplies, reading glasses, etc. to the families. We plan to connect with the children through sports and crafts. We will pray with each family and provide them with a bible.

We will also have an opportunity to visit Rolando Corazo Orphanage in Managua. Our funds will be used to provide financial support for a Christmas celebration and gifts for the children. Rolando Corazo is home for approximately 80 boys and girls, newborns to eight years old. In 2007 we financed a preschool, and in 2008 we financed an infirmary for them.

We provide full and partial scholarships year round for children in the Vera Cruz community to attend a private Christian school. This school is located on the property of Casa Bernabe orphanage who is it's primary source of support. The children from the orphanage attend this school. By helping more community children attend, it relieves some financial burden from the orphanage and spreads the blessing of a Christian education. In addition, full scholarships are provided for children at the orphanage to study English. Last year we provided screens for the doors and windows of the dorms, kitchen, and dining hall at Casa Bernabe orphanage. They have no air conditioning apart from opening the doors and windows. Mosquitos are fierce. This year we hope to fund an additional project within our budget.
