  • Growing in our faith through studying the gospel as a team and extending God’s love to each other and the people of Merida
  • Developing relationships between older and younger people in our church
  • Serving and encouraging our friends at Shalom in their work

Who Can Go: Traditionally, this has been a trip for high school and college students but this year we are encouraging people of all ages to be a part of the team. Those in 8th grade and below must be accompanied by a parent.

Mission Nicaragua

Dates: June 12-26, 2017
Location: Serving with One by One in Veracruz, Nicaragua
Cost: $1800
Team Leader: Dave and Katy Crumley,
Deadline: April 23, 2017 but the first team meeting (informational) will be on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 12:30 PM.
Faith’s History with Nicaragua: Members of Faith Presbyterian have been ministering annually in Nicaragua since 2005.  Many different areas of work have been undertaken, including establishing a private, non-profit organization (One By One, Inc.) through which to conduct year-round ministry.  Over the years, Faith’s ministry in Nicaragua in conjunction with One By One, Inc. has been very diverse and extremely deep.  Some of the ministry areas include medical, serving orphanages, evangelism and outreach, education, food, and housing.
What We Will Do: Share God’s love with the people of Nicaragua through the following activities - we will be working and staying at an orphanage; partnering with at least two churches in a small town about an hour from Managua, assisting with outreach related activities and encouraging them in their work; possibly working with an additional orphanage; working with Veracruz English Academy, an English language school that the non-profit, One By One, helped to get started in 2008.  We will experience Nicaraguan culture; worship our great God in several diverse church settings; and establish and deepen relationships with our Nicaraguan partners.  Additional projects or activities will depend upon the make-up of the team.
Trip Goals:

  1. To encourage team members to develop a deeper relationship with Christ and the church by
    • Exploring a worldview of Christianity – Christ is the Lord of people in all parts of the world and we have a connection with them through the Holy Spirit,
    • Sharin g faith through evangelism, and
    • Loving and serving others through work projects.
  2.  To adopt a lifestyle that reflects God’s love by
    • Living on less and not storing up treasures on earth
    • Praying fervently for missionaries and the ministry of reaching the lost
    • Supporting the Great Commission financially and physically, both locally and abroad.

Who Can Go: Open to everyone.  Those under 18 need a family member or someone designated to act as en loco parentus while traveling (parent in location).

want to get involved?

Here are three specific ways you can support Faith's Summer Missions work:

1) Pray

Pray without ceasing! Join us in praying for the trips - for finances, safety, team unity, and relationships with the communities being served. Use this helpful list from Lifeway on ways to pray for missions teams.  Stay up to date on specific prayer requests for the teams on The City or on Facebook.

2) Give

Although costs are carefully controlled, trips are expensive and teams are expected to raise support through various means.  We are committed to raising 50% of the cost of the trips within our church. You can encourage the traveling members in their support-raising work by designating a single gift to “Faith Summer Missions”. *

3) Go

Take the first step to join us in serving our partners in Merida, Mexico and Veracruz, Nicaragua by filling out this short interest form or email Elise North at elisen@ for more information.

*A note about mission trip fundraising for faith members/attendees

Rather than receiving multiple fund-raising letters from individual participants within our congregation, the Missions Committee organizes a single support request for both trips (Mexico and Nicaragua) on behalf of all delegates approved to go. Our goal for member giving is to raise 50% of the cost of the trips within the congregation. The other half will be raised by the teams from their own resources or sources outside the church.  Therefore, instead of contributing to a specific individual, you can simply designate a gift to “Faith Summer Missions” in support of the Mexico and Nicaragua trips and the funds will be allocated appropriately.  Please email Bill Claxton with any questions at
